SOLD!!!!

We did! We bought it. Although it was not straight forward.

We had contacted the real estate agent who was on holiday in the Whit Sundays and had limited internet and phone access so waiting to hear back took longer than expected. To be honest the property had been on the market for a while and they probably didn't expect any movement. Everyone else was smart enough not to buy the skinny, sloping block with a quirky house beyond repair.

We went in with an offer we thought was reasonable, low but reasonable, because we knew it would need $$ to get it to a point that we could build on with retaining and earthworks. The owners countered at a much higher price (barely under the high asking) at which point we said we were out - we didn't think we would ever be able to reach an agreement with the initial counter. We held firm and were willing to give the block a miss if the sums didn't add up. We never LOVED the block. We loved the location and loved the idea of demolishing and building our own house but had always envisaged a flat, simple block. That being said we never shy away from a challenge. Holding firm paid off! Or the owners were motivated enough to sell after finally getting an offer!

We proceeded with reasonable confidence we had made the right decision and settled the start of June 2019. We had managed to obtain a site survey prior to settlement as we were keen to get the design process and build happening as soon as possible. Evenings were filled with pinterest house inspiration and looking at narrow lot house designs. It was an exciting time and we were full of optimism of what could be, that was until we hit the first bump in the road...
